Ferris Wheel

Ferris wheel, guess most of the kids would like to take a ride on it while seeing it in the funfair. My first ride should be in a funfair as well ... but have forgotten when and where was my 1st ride.
A Ferris wheel which is also known as observation wheel or big wheel was designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. as a landmark for the 1893 world's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Nowsaday, there are plenty of Ferris wheels constructed all over the world which are competing in their height.

10 world's tallest Ferris wheels

  1. Singapore Flyer (2008) - 165m
  2. Star of Nanchang (2006) - 160m
  3. London Eye (2000) - 135m * London Eye (approx. 20 mins 17.50 p including a 4D show)
  4. Suzhou Ferris Wheel (2009) - 120m
  5. The Southern Star (2008) - 120m (Australia)
  6. Changsa Ferris Wheel (2004) - 120m
  7. Zhengzhou Ferris Wheel (2003) - 120m

  9. Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel (2001) -117m (Japan)
  10. Star of Taihu Lake (2008) - 115m

Anyway, the 208 m (682 ft) Beijing Great Wheel 北京朝天轮,under construction since 2007 and originally planned to open in 2008,has been delayed until 2010 will be the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world soon. ( http://www.greatwheel.com/beijing_eng/home_english.htm )
