Ferris Wheel

Ferris wheel, guess most of the kids would like to take a ride on it while seeing it in the funfair. My first ride should be in a funfair as well ... but have forgotten when and where was my 1st ride.
A Ferris wheel which is also known as observation wheel or big wheel was designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. as a landmark for the 1893 world's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Nowsaday, there are plenty of Ferris wheels constructed all over the world which are competing in their height.

Bee Won

Bee Won 秘苑 is an authentic Korean Traditional Restaurant at the 3rd floor of The Royal Hotel (formerly Dorsett Hotel or even earlier Sheraton Hotel) in Penang. When we were there, there was no other customers. We were seated in a private room, occupied the whole restaurant.
Miss Choi , the director of the restaurant is a very friendly person. She kept recommending and explaining the dishes on the menu to us. According to her, the ingredients they are using are mostly from Korea. And the food is prepared with minimum artificial flavours as well.


Lettuce leaves, korean sambals and chili sauce, green chili and garlic.

Teppanyaki style beef ribs ( this was highly recommended by Miss Choi, infact we were trying to order the other which was boneless ..hehe )

  • spinach with sesame ( taste unique due to the sesame )
  • fried tapioca with honey
  • korean pancake
  • pickled onions
  • fried anchovies with honey & chili
  • spicy garlic chives
  • kimchi
  • salad ( taste good, thumbs up )

The noodles tasted very nice. The sesame fully brought out the taste of the noodles. ( recommended )

How to eat these side dishes ?

  1. Mix well the noodles with the carrots and cucumbers in the bowl.
  2. Lay out a piece of lettuce leaf on your palm.
  3. Put a small quantity of well mixed noodles, the beef, few slices of green chilies, garlic with sambal and the side dishes on the leaf.
  4. Wrap it up and ready to eat.

Seafood pot in spicy soup. Totally different from tomyam. The soup was naturally sweet. ( The soup was reheated a few times when it turned cool. So, the prawns and mussels or clams were overcooked, the flesh shrank at last which was the only minus for the meal)

Thimble

A thimble is a protective shield worn on the finger or thumb. It is generally used for sewing while pushing a needle through the fabric or leather as it was being sewn. However, they have gained many other uses.

Thimbles are usually made of metal, leather, rubber and wood or even glass or china. Early thimbles were sometimes made of whale bone, horn or ivory. Natural sources were also utilized such as Connemara marble, bog oak (沼泽橡木) , or mother of pearl. Rarer works from thimble makers utilized diamonds, sapphires or rubies.

Started to collect thimbles since UK's trip. Found it to be very unique and symbolic just like stamp collecting. Most of the thimbles that I have now are made of china and metal, few are wood and pewter. I have 34 pieces of thimbles in my glass cabinet, most of them were from my UK's & Europe's trip, the rest were souvenirs from my sister and a friend.

Japanese cuisine is one of my favourite besides chinese & thai cuisines .... love the taste, the freshness, the sauce, the unique seasoning, the way of preparing & decorating ....
Azuma Japanese Restaurant is located at Queensbay Mall, Penang. It serves a big variaties of japanese food. The environment and the service there are good as well.
Mushroom fried rice
Shrimps fried rice, the taste is good ( highly recommended )
Kimchi soba ( a bit too salty ) Salmon Sashimi & roes
Fried Salmon with bean sprouts
Salad with special made sauce ( the sauce looks oily but taste good )

60 year-old-birth Anniversary Celebration

Were celebrating dad's 60 years old birthday at Safari Country Club with family members and some relatives ......
It was a 8 courses set dinner ( started from 7:30pm ~ 10:00pm )

The food was average but the celebration was great !!

Léon de Bruxelles, Paris


Léon de Bruxelles is situated along Champs-Elysées. Was there for dinner after a long day walk..... The restaurant was narrow and long deep inside. The tables were closely packed together.
There were chinese tourists from hk*(speak cantonese with the hk slangs) sitting on my right and ang mo at the other side. The service was average, may be due to too many customers.

Yummy mussels ... one of my favourite mollusca!! Thumbs up for the freshness, juicyness and sweetness.
I didn't use the cutleries that provided but with my hands and the shell of the mussels after finished the 1st one. This is the traditional way of eating the mussels .... which would be tastier and yummier in this way !!
The french fries can be topped up as much as u can eat .... i did once. But i didn't touch the bread at all as i know that i will be having it for breakfast every morning if i am in france and it was true !!

The waiter who served me ... busy running here and there. Could see the frustrated on his face after the end of the meal ....
The meal was expensive for me if i converted to RM ... If i was not mistaken, it costed around 20 euro for the bowl of mussels plus drinks.

Ristorean Bella Italia

Bella Italia is an Italian Restaurant that leading for fine dining in Pulau Tikus, Penang. It is a small, homelike restaurant for Italian Food Lovers. It runs by an Italian guy. Was there for dinner , were sitting outside the restaurant as it was fullhouse that night ......
